About Ty Cefn
Ty Cefn is a construction company based in Mid Wales, led by director Jamie Richardson. Jamie began designing and building low-energy timber frame homes in the late 1990s, following his time project managing construction works at the Centre for Alternative Technology.
He was among the early advocates in the UK to adopt the German Passivhaus standard — one of the most rigorous energy-efficiency standards in the world. One of his earliest projects involved the design and manufacture of the timber frame for the UK’s first commercial Passivhaus: the Dyfi Pathfinder Project in Machynlleth.
Over the past 20 years, building regulations and industry standards have increasingly aligned with Passivhaus principles. Throughout this time, Jamie has continued to champion the design and construction of robust, low-energy homes based on the five core principles of Passivhaus design.
Jamie personally oversees every project, working closely with a trusted network of skilled tradespeople and specialist suppliers to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes.
